In South East Asian lores, a drowned soul, consumed by resentment, transforms into the vengeful spirit known as MA DA. Set in the dark waters of the Mekong River, MA DA - THE DROWNING SPIRIT tells the thrilling story of a corpse collector who confronts Ma Da - the vengeful drowning spirit, after it abducts her daughter. Determined to save her child, Mrs. Le embarks on a desperate rescue to prevent her child's ghostly fate beneath the waters.
In East Asian tradition, Corpse Collectors are fishermen who recover drowned bodies from rivers when a "floater" is reported. Despite facing prejudice, they provide solace to grieving families by performing this dreaded task that no one else dares undertake.
